What Counts as An Inappropriate Prom Dress?
We all have seen that one girl who gets a huge, horrible attitude with a sponsor or other chaperone because her formal dresses, prom dresses, short dresses, cocktail dresses, etc, just don’t cut it. You may not be entirely sure what she’s doing wrong though—and this article is here to help you.
First of all, if you can’t wear it to school, chances are that you probably cannot wear it to prom. However, there are also a few exceptions, depending on your school. If you aren’t sure if your choices for prom dresses are appropriate, then your best bet would be to check your school dress code and also check up with your sponsors. Don’t get angry if they say that you need to pick something else. They aren’t the ones who make the rules, but they can get in a lot more trouble than you if you break them.
Next, an inappropriate prom dress would have a really short skirt. If you can see your butt hanging out from under your dress or it might be in danger of hanging out—choose a longer skirt. The same goes for necklines. If you are in danger of falling out and flashing the whole dance floor—choose a dress with a higher neckline. If you’re a bit busty, then you want to make sure that your dresses are accommodating for that.
